19-21st June summer solstice 2027
19-21st June summer solstice 2027
June is a wonderful month to walk and wild camp on Dartmoor, especially with the long sunny evenings leading up to summer solstice.
It is beautiful to finally see the hills fully green and to walk amongst the now tall enough grassland to see it ripple and hear it hiss with the wind, Dartmoor is for the most part a huge grassland which really comes to its full glory in June. Foxgloves bloom in June dotted along rivers and congregate in great numbers in the pine forest which smells amazing on hot sunny days. The weather has sufficiently warmed by now, and so the wild swimming is not just for the determined or hardy ones amongst us :) and so on warm weekends we priorities extra swims on the routes!
